I don't listen to music while gaming unless I'm doing something really boring. I find it distracting as when I listen to music I like to really
listen to it, if you know what I mean.

Depends really. If im playing something that has realy awesome music,i'll obviously play through that listening to it. If its a casual game that ive heard the tracks before dozens of times,i just plonk on a playlist depending on playstyle.

I mostly listen to in-game music in normal games.
When I used to play UO, the in-game music somehow caused my client to crash repeatedly (and in most cases during important events), which obviously pissed me off. So I switched it off. Once, when I've been doing one monster spawn with friends, I played TES: Oblivion intro music on winamp and speakers. The repeat was on. I was so immersed in game, that I didn't realise it has been playing all over again for more than 4,5 hours. My then roommate almost went nuts before he overcame his introvert nature and made a sour remark

I am not listening to OSTs and game music all the time, just ocasionally and the best ones. Of course I love John Williams, James Horner, Vangelis, some stuff from Ennio Morricone and such but I'm not like listening to it always whenI play. To the contrary. It was just one funny story I thought I could share (with you)

I listen to music almost all the time. Just not when playing a game.

Just in -game sounds turned low because I have vent going- and you never know when you might hear someone before you see them in a PvP situation...keep my ears open at all times so I can scare the poo outta the person "thinking" they are being sneaky by turning around right before they jump me and slitting their throat or something lol

When the moon is full
the Raven slumbers
Dreaming of the coming cull
In the shadows of the new
the Raven hunts after all of you

Back in the day, I would totally sell out to the whole "RAWK OUT METAL WHILE GAMING" stereotype but seriously I found I love listening to sublime, 311, dispatch, etc. Hell I'll even admit to John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and Hurt. Metal music just gets me way to wound up, when I'm PK'n i need to think, calculate, execute, and chill.
Props to whoever said dream theater, btw. John Petrucci is the man, can't say I'm a huge fan of DT vocals, but man can john effing rock that guitar.
